The Way Forward #2 (7 pm GMT 4/2/17) with Shazia Hobbs, Luke Nash-Jones and Mo Fyaz
On Sunday February 4th, I’ll be livestreaming the second instalment of The Way Forward and the confirmed guests are Shazia Hobbs and Luke Nash-Jones, Toni Bugle was going to be on again but she let me know last night that she couldn’t make it so I’ll see if I get a replacement for her today.
I’m very pleased to have Shazia and Luke on. As most of you probably know, Shazia is a Glaswegian ex-Muslim who is author of the book “The Gori’s Daughter”, which tells the story of a mixed race Pakistani-Scottish girl growing up in Glasgow and clearly draws on her own experiences. Luke is a well-known patriotic political commentator and runs the MBGA News website and YouTube channel and is involved in a wide-range of projects.
Given Shazia’s background as a campaigner against sexual abuse in the Muslim community and Luke’s in-depth political knowledge, the show will will probably take a similar format to last week where we talked about the challenges posed by Islam in Britain in the first half and political solutions in the second.
After mentioning Shazia’s campaigning activities regarding Muslim rape gangs, FGM, forced marriages etc I’d like to discuss Ofsted’s support for a headteacher at a predominantly Muslim school in London who decided to ban girls aged under 8 from wearing the hijab. The conclusion of the Darren Osborne case and the disproportionately high sentence he received in comparison to Muslims who have committed similar crimes is also relevant as is the media and CPS’s treatment of Tommy Robinson and what this says about a media and establishment clampdown on so-called ” far right extremism”.
In the second half, I plan to talk about how we deal with this politically focusing particularly on a possibly rejuvenated UKIP under the interim and perhaps permanent leadership of Gerard Batten. My question to Luke will be “Does UKIP have the political will to deal with the Islamic problem or is it just a Brexit one-trick pony?” I’ll be arguing that the only party with the guts and knowledge to deal with the issue is Anne Marie Waters For Britain party and if you want a lukewarm option surely it would be better to back a Conservative Party led by Jacob Rees-Mogg. It’s going to be fun.
